It’s Time For Everyone Favorite Segment!

Let’s get to know Leo Carlsson with local Hawks correspondent Ribbi Shibbi! Our scene opens to Ribbi & Leo sitting at one of Chicago’s best hidden pizza gems Burt’s Place in Morton Grove. Laid out is Burt’s famous Canoli & a beautiful DEEP-dish Ham & Pineapple Pizza absolutely oozing with Pineaps & delicious melty cheese!

Ribbi: Leo! Absolutely fired up you could be here today & thank you for taking the time to do this interview with us as we know training camp is around the corner & you’ve got a lot on the go right now.

Leo: Not a problem Mr. Shibbi. Pleasure to meet you & be apart of the resurgence of the Blackhawks organization.

Ribbi: Let’s start there! Heading into the draft did you feel like Chicago was somewhere you’d land if the opportunity arose?

Leo: Yeah, we talked a lot about to the top three teams but when I met with Mr. Jacklin & his staff it felt like if I was available then likely I would be selected by them. In general, it’s just an honour to be selected by one of the original 6 franchise in de NHL. You look at the storied history & greats like Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews & Swedish Legend Johnny Oduya just an honour to wear the jersey.

Ribbi: Swedish Legend Johnny Oduya! Now that’s a line I never thought I’d hear in my time but think it’s swell! Have you had a chance to tour around Chicago at all since you were drafted?

Leo: Notch yet. Once I was selected by Chicago, I headed back home for the annual Swedish Countryside Meatball Event in Vastra Gotaland County hosted by Ikea every summer. Was great opportunity to meet some of my childhood idols in Henrik & Daniel Sedin, Daniel Alfredsson & I was even given the chance to meet Niklas Lidstrom. Was lot of fun before getting to work on my off-season training ahead of the fall camp.

Ribbi: That’s quite a list of highly touted Swedes you got to meet. Glad the event was able to give you those opportunities. Quick final one to wrap this up, ahead of camp do you have any personal expectations for yourself? Goals for the season?

Leo: Honestly just want to come to camp & show what I can do & try to make the NHL this season. It’s been a dream since I was young & it would be exciting to get to play with Nils Hoglander. He & I play often together in the off-season growing up & seeing his success already really gives me motivation to work hard & I can also be in the NHL sooner then later.

Ribbi: Fantastic Leo & again thank you for this today! Look forward to seeing you at camp & hope you can achieve your goals & more this season. For the Chicago brass I’m Ribbi Shibbi live & very much reporting while enjoying this Ham & Pineapple Pizza cause you & I all know folks. Pineapple DOES belong on Pizza!
