Wings poised for success 2023-09-06 During the inaugural KPHL season, your Detroit Red Wings were projected to finish in the middle of the pack. As the season progressed on the regular season, the team enjoyed its highs and lows, eventually finishing as the 8th seeded team in the playoffs. That's where things took a quite unexpected turn. Dylan Larkin, Lucas Raymond, and Ville Husso put the team on their backs and rocketed them past the NY Rangers in the 1st round of the playoffs in what could only be described as an astounding turn of events. What was expected to be a sweep in favor of the Rangers, ended up as a sweep for the Red Wings. In the second round of the playoffs, the Wings faced off against the Hurricanes, in what turned out to be an exciting series. Next off was the Canadiens. The 7 game series was the ultimate demise, as Carey Price was unstoppable between the pipes, only allowing 5 goals in the final 3 games. Morale was high in Motown, heading into the offseason. The Wings saw few players leave in free agency, but greet the new season with several new faces. The only key departure is OEL, who was a cap crutch, traded to the Arizona Coyotes. Coming in are Brian Dumoulin, J.T. Compher, Marcus Johansson, and newly acquired TJ Oshie. We don't like to make projections, but we feel the roster has greatly improved. Expectations should remain tempered for now, but there's no reason not to think the roster is good enough to make some noise. Here are the projected lines heading into the 23-24 season: LW C RW Lawson Crouse Dylan Larkin T.J. Oshie Lucas Raymond J.T.
