2023 Draft Predictions: Top 10 Picks edition

1) After a lucky draw in the lottery, BRRRRRRRRR has decided it is better to carpe the diem rather than wait for a Bedard maturation while wasting the prime of his current core. In a controversial trade straight out of the movie Draft Day, our own version of Kevin Costner decides to trade back in the draft. It’s Arizona that answers the Oilers drills for interest trading picks 7, 21, 30, a 2024 2nd, and Jacob Chychrun to the Oilers in return for the honor of picking the messiah known as Connor Bedard.

2) Washington takes their pick as expected He wanted Fantilli and got him, no need to complicate things

3) Robby hunts for a deal and looks to trade down to amass more mid-level picks. Unfortunately for him, everyone is too busy submitting offers for Bedard. A decent offer comes in from both the Penguins and the Bruins, and Robby decides to go with the Bruins offer because he hates the Penguin’s GM even though he had a slightly better offer. Robby gets picks 5 and 14. The Bruins take the Swedish Fish Leo Carlsson as Robby cries because he missed out on another Swede.

4) Ducks go quack, and the Ducks have a quack running their scouting department as the Ducks take a massive risk and go with the Russian Matvei Michkov.

5) Robby is still not happy with this pick… he is Kylo Ren and the draft board is the salt planet, Crait from that terrible 8th star wars movie that isn’t worth being named and insists MORE! MORE!!!! He finally yields to the Penguins offer, liking the value they provide and gets picks 15, 23, and a 3rd rounder. This means Robby has taken his 3rd overall pick and turned it into 14, 15, 23, a 2023 2nd and a 2024 2nd rounder. VideoJ says it is time to keep his name out your motherfreaking mouths and gets jiggy with it, declaring today is Pittsburgh’s Independence Day from sucking, taking the man in the black suit, Will Smith

6) Upon being asked his plans for the future and this pick, GMJesse says “I’m not sure” and throws a dart that lands on Zach Benson. Congrats to him, I guess.

7) Robby gets nervous that the Canucks’ pick won’t be available down at 14 and trades back up to take Colby Barlow at 7 from Edmonton for picks 15 and 23.

8) The Kings select Ryan Leonard, a safe pick with some upside, knowing he can take a risk later in the draft at 27.

9) Stu has spent the entire night trying to trade from this pick either up or down because he has an itch, but no one scratches it for him. He turns down a last second offer from the Kraken and takes Dalibor Dvorsky.

10)  The Islanders’ Armin wanted to trade back as well, but there was just too much supply in these low picks. Luckily, the Capitals are there to answer the call at the last second as he trades back towards the Islanders’ real pick and gets picks 25, 34, and their 2024 2nd rounder for the pick that becomes David Reinbacher
